Hi guys, newbie here when comes to metal detecting, I just picked up my first 2 metal detectors in trade for some military helmets which I had about $50 cash into, the first detector is a bounty hunter discovery 1100 and the other is a vintage garrett deepseeker vlf/tr and both of them work, the bounty hunter has a manual but the garrett doesn't so do you guys know where I can download a manual for the garrett? My garrett is the one that has the button on the handle, any help would be great and also do you guys think I got a deal? Been wanting to get into the hobby for awhile and decided the time is right

I found my manual at the Garrett website. Good luck!!

Hey and welcome to tnet, I'm an old guy and I used a Garrett like you describe for 25 years, I loved it, It finally died 2 years ago. From time to time you can find various coils on Ebay for that thing..good luck and happy hunting

Thanks for the help guys, just downloaded the manual so now to adjust it then off I go to the beach to try it out :)

I am old to, 47 and counting, I check out ebay on the coils for it, do you know the depth this thing will detect upto?

You got into TH cheap. But the beach is not the best place for those detectors. Good luck, hand print-2_edited-5.webp Frank...

Six inches was the max for mine with higher discrimination. Eight inches on a quarter in all metal mode. Salt water beaches are tough unless you can manually ground balance it and stay up the beach away from the water.

Ok thanks that should be deep enough to start with, I did test it out in the back yard and found a few nails and about 52 cents so its a start just wish we had the history they have over seas I did some mding with a army buddy and found a few roman coins and a nice Greek coin about the size of a half dollar, I still have the Greek coin and included pics of it
