I got permission to hunt a historic fairground today. Which is also a known civil war campsite for Captain John Morgan. My Soveriegn GT was barking alot of orders and I found alot of new change, a fake ring, 8 wheaties, 1-1943 S Nickel, 1-1895 Indian Head and a few relics. I am curious if anyone knows what the 1 item I'm holding is and if it's civil war related. I first thought it was a scabbard tip but I can't find any that look exactly like it.

Nice finds. Sorry I don't know what it is.

You did well with your first post!

Hard to tell what that might be but a scabbard tip is as good a guess as any. Might want to check one of the relic forums.

:D Welcome to Tnet John. You did GREAT on your post! Some great finds you got there, too. Sorry I can't help you with an ID, but it looks like a tip to me....... Happy Hunting

Welcome from the UK.

I'm pretty sure its not a scabbard chape. Might be a old tent pole connector.

Nice first post! That may be from a flag pole. HH, Mike

Another good possibility. I still think it looks the wrong shape for a chape. It looks as though the opening was once round & was squashed slightly. Therefore making the opening the wrong shape for a scabbard chape/tip.

Can we see a picture of the top opening?
