Hi all,
I have been intensely searching neighborhood yards over the last few weeks..I have 106 wheats sitting on my desk that I plan to put into a folder, and have come across some more silver as well.
Last week I searched a lady's yard across the street from mine..when she gave me permission I told her I'd give her the first silver coin I found. The coin ended up being a 1957 silver Rosie. I didn't know it ahead of time, but it was found on her birthday and the year was also her birth year! The dime was meant to be hers from the beginning.
The next day I checked the same yard once more and dug an "iffy" signal that ended up being my first war nickel, a 1944-P.
I also ended up with about 10 more wheats.
Then last week I got permission to check another property up the street that was a foreclosure..I found a 1954 silver quarter and a 1964 Rosie in the front yard, and a clad Kennedy half in the back yard. I also found my first 1964 Kennedy half.
Today I went back to a yard I searched to death last month. I searched it about 6 times before, but decided to work much slower and dig up the iffy signals just to see what they were. To my amazement, one of the iffy signals turned out to be another Merc. I found one in the same yard last month, but that one rang out as a solid dime. I guess you just never know!
I also dug up 7 more wheats, the oldest being a 1924. I have pulled over 40 wheats out of that yard so far!
The last thing I found was this Girl Scout pendant that must have been on a chain or a bracelet.
Considering the fact that I didn't search any new territory today, I really enjoyed my hunt!
