I got an early start this morning. I arrived at the site and was set up and ready to start swinging around 5:45.
I set the sensitivity on 99, 3H on the tones, DE mode and set the discrimination on 7. I got my first silver coin right from the get go. I ended up finding a couple of more silver coins and 7 wheat pennies before calling it day.
As usual I drove around looking for another location to detect for another day. I drove by a house that on was on a huge corner lot and saw a guy sitting in a swing under a huge shade tree.
I pulled up and walked over and introduced myself and asked if I could have his permission to detect his yard. He was reluctant at first but finally said it would be OK.
The house was built in 1951 and has been in his family for the entire time. He pointed out all the places where he and the other kids used to play and where they stood on the corner to catch the bus. I expect to find some nice silver coins from this yard.
Before leaving I asked him if he liked tomatoes and he said that he loved tomatoes. I went to my car and got him a big sack full of homegrown tomatoes. I told him it would take me several days to cover his huge lot and he told me to take all the time that I needed. It pays to be nice and have a bunch of delicious homegrown tomatoes to handout.
