Flat Button with "E Plurbis Unum"

Found this button at an a very old place today. The front is flat w/o any markings. All the back says is E Plubris Unum. I was wondering if the slogan points to a military connection? Also, would be interested to know the approximate date of it? If anyone has any questions of me, I can try to answer.
Regards,
Jon Dickinson.

Look to see if there is anything else on the back. Buttons with this sometimes had something else there that connected it with a political campaign.

Cool button.

Nice find, here is another one from that era I found many years ago. Also the PC 105 I mention below.

Yours is a Albert's PC 106A and mine is a PC 106B also found a PC 105 which is my nicest campaign button.

Wow. Thanks for all the great info. I think the Charleston button is a match even though I found it in Ohio. I can see an "ON" in the center ring, but that is it. What the heck was that button doing in Ohio?

The question should be what was one doing in Charleston, actually the same as yours in Ohio, they were political buttons, they can be found in any state, heck my two were found inNJ!

Re: Flat Button with "E Plurbis Unum"

Don,

Maybe I am confused. I think the button listed on the website is an exact match. That button says H. Meriton, and I can clearly see the last two letters in the inner ring and they are "ON". Maybe I need to research where H. Meriton was from?
I am correct from your information that this style of button was used by multiple campaigns during the 1834 elections? If so, did each candidate put their own name in the center ring?
Thanks,
Jon.

OK. I am pretty dense. H. Meriton is the maker, not a candidate. Consider this mystery solved.
