Might want to post a picture of the three buttons with the front and back of them "as is". May get a better reply on how to do it. JMO

What exactly are flat buttons and why are they so special? Sorry for the newbie question... just tryin to learn

I love them puppies. Good way to date a site. Most I have found in TN date between 1790 and 1840. They were often imported from the British. From what a very knowledgeable member has told me(TheCannonBallGuy), the raised letters are often the oldest and the indented letters are usually later. There is a good book out there that helps date and identify them but not lots of stuff on line. Book is on my X-mas list. I clean mine by heating lemon juice with a little dish washing detergent then putting them in and brushing them with a tooth brush. Also heating Hydrogen Peroxide and doing the same. They will bubble in the Peroxide when it is heated. Let them soak a bit and repeat if necessary.

Get them pics up for us:icon_thumleft:

place i found it was the highest point around.

Buckleboy has the best cleaning method for buttons. I use it all the time and comes out great. I love digging flat buttons because you know you are in a good area for other relics.
