2 1/2 by 1 3/4 Henry County Alabama find. Looks like they had a little trouble with this one, still looks like they got some use out of it though. They all can't be winners.

Unlike a nice piece of steel, flint has all sorts of problems. Cracks, vugs, crystal pockets. You spend an hour on a preform and then it falls in half. Happens to every flintknapper. Eventually, you get over the "heartbreaker" aspect of knapping. You simply toss the broken/failed preform in a pile and start again like a good Indian. Gary

Good find! Every collection neads a few points that are a "little different"!!

That’s funny. It’s amazing how junky some perfect condition points can be. Also interesting that t-net autocorrects junky into kinky.

That's why so many brokes are found in middens I think. Just discards that were tossed an they started something else.

Kinda looks like Lamoka. They're here in Ohio and NE, don't know about your area. They often are crude and have cortex on the unfinished base.

I agree Twitch, I have a few I wonder what were they thinking and/or what were they on when they made it.
