Floating Sifter: Screen Material

I'm thinking of building a floating sifter and I was wondering if anyone could give me some leads on what to use for the screen material.

I'd like to have something rather rigid for the bottom. Any ideas? What do you guys use?

I made one this year out of a SIX gallon bucket. Cut the bottom 2 - 2 1/2" off. Then drilled 3/8" holes all over the bottom. Wrapped a noodle around it to length, and secured with zip ties. Works great. No metal so you can scan the dirt in the sifter.

Go scrounging behind your local grocery store. Find a bread rack. They are made of the same material as a milk crate, but they are about 18 inches square and about 6 inches high. Line the inside with hardware screen. Which is basically 1/8 inch screen made of plastic. Fill the side holes with foam sealer except for the handles. Zip strip some foam noodles to the top and there you go.

I made one out of a crate. I used once. They have their place just not how I hunt. They are easy to make though. Hh gl-Joe

I used one of my prospecting classifiers and found an inner tube the right size to set it in. A couple of zip ties and you're done.

Small hola hoop
Noodle
Oil drain pain
Kids beach sifter

Cut out center
Melted with soldering iron to bond the 2 plastics, crazy glue and 2 part epoxy.
Never failed.
