History goes down in flames

Milton Florida which was actually called Scratch Ankle many years ago had a large fire last night with strong winds leading a storm front, fueled the flames with 30-40 mile an hour winds making stopping it impossible. The heavy rains that came in with the storms as the front passed us around 1 am help get the fire contained and prevented the whole downtown from going up. One whole city square block was lost in Milton, which the town itself is only about 4 blocks total. As of this morning it is pretty much out other than hot spots here and there popping back up.

These building are 100 years old which strangely were built after a fire destroyed the previous buildings that stood where they are in Jan 1909

the very last picture the taller building on right was the opera house and was now a museum and playhouse. Many Many years of history have been lost in means of memories and collections of items no longer around.

Bobby that is ths saddest kind of pics to see the opry house looks like it was beautiful we have been lucky here last fire close to being like that was in 92 arson took out a square block to just torch one business for the insurance. And the last one before that I think I was around 6 took out only 3 of business downtown luckly firewalls held. Or it would have taken out our historic theater. I hope all the hot spots are out and there have been no flare ups! And that noone has been hurt!
