Florida Treasure coast spots and conditions?

Heading down to FT Lauderdale this weekend and will be there for a few days. I plan to get up on the treasure coast for a couple days while there. Does anyone have suggestions on locations that have more favorable metal detecting conditions? Are there areas that are more eroded/washed out with less sand build up than others currently?

Other input regarding good beach areas closer to FT Lauderdale, etc would be appreciated too.
