Hi all, I decided to run a thread about what kinds of foreign coins you come across in rolls...
since there are both American and Canadian hunters on here, coins from the US and Canada are not considered "foreign", I am talking Mexican or other continents/islands.

Here's my batch so far this year-
Penny sized coins:
Bahama starfish pennies, too many to count...
Bermuda hog pennies, too many dates,
Barbados cents

Nickel sized coins:
Bermuda fish nickels: 1983, 1996, 1997, 2004
Bahama pineapple nickels: 1998, 2000, 2005
singapore 20 cent pieces: 1986, 1997, 1997
Great Brittain 20p: 2009, 2010
Poland 50 groszy: 1995
Switzerland: 20 rappen 1965
Russia: 1 rouble?? 2009
Italy 5 eurocent, 2002
Turkey 25 kuros 2005
Asian- chinese? 5 - something- no date

Dime sized:
Great brittain 5p: 1990, 1995, 2001, 2007
Panama dime: 2001, 2008, both enders as you can't detect them edge checking
Russia: 2000, 2008 10-something
Moldava- 2005 25 Bani-aluminum
pakistan 2- 1967- aluminum
ecuador- 2000 10c
greece 1966 50-something
trinidad tobago- 1979 cent
east caribbean states- 2007 dime
Hong kong 1987 10c
phillipines- 1993 50 centavos

Quarter sized:
taiwan 5 soimething, no date, edge like an american quarter, twice as thick and more spaced reeded edge

Half dollar sized:
plastic toy money US Half dollar
1988 Jamaica 50c 10-sided
1967 Great brittain large cent
countless magician's coins...

ADD to the list! HH
Buff:thumbsup:

I didn't find this CRHing but I did find a 1943 Australian 3 pence in a coinstar.
I honestly have no clue how it didn't fall through the dirt collecting holes when you dump the coins in. Must have gotten stuck on the rim of a coin, and gotten through the machine or something.
Along with it was a 1918 canadian dime.
No more luck like this anymore it seems, probably. That happened in at least 2009 or 2010, somewhere around there. The supermarket I found it at is torn down, and they relocated it and built a HUGE one, one of the biggest in the world. Now the coinstar machine is up front by the checkout lines, so people check it.

I got at least an oz of silver at that machine :)

I've found a few over the last 6 months... mostly in my nickel boxes. 1971 Philipino 10 sentimos, 1982 Philipino 25 sentimos, 2008 guatamalan centavo, and a 2001 mexican 50 centavos. The dime sized coin is a 1970 Swiss 1/2 Frank. The half dollar size coins are a 1971 Un Peso, and a 1966 Medio 1/2 Balboa from Panama. The 1/2 Balboa is 10% silver!

Here's a cool silver coin I found in a nickel roll recently. It's Portuguese.

I am amazed with all the cool finds in coin rolls, keep on posting!

To bigwavedave- yes, I did find all of those coins by CRH'ing/coinstar alone (mostly in rolls). I keep meticulous records of everything I find (since 2008), and it's not even a fraction of a what the old big volume searchers could do. We used to have a list of all the foreign coins found ( http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/c...ing-list-01-01-2006-through-01-12-2009-a.html ). And while I'm here, I'll add a pic of my most recent foreign coins. Everything was found in bags, except the Chinese 1 Yuan, which was found in change

I only do half dollars boxes. The foreign coins that I have found so far have been either Panama Balboa coins or the old large English penny coins. Updating my post: since than I have found 4 or 5 Ecuador 50 Centivos steel coins. I also found a 1862 Indian 1 Rupee silver coin with Queen Victoria wearing Indian clothes on it.

That's really cool to find that 1862 Indian 1 rupee silver!

photo 1.webpphoto 2.webpI found this in a box of half dollars last night, it's a little smaller than a half though. From what I found online it's a gaming token from the mid to late 19th century manufactured in Bohemia.

Found this today in my halves, pretty cool! HH, Maverick.

Nothing great. But the Hong Kong 20 cent coin is pretty cool, found in a cent roll, but it's not the same shape.
