Last week I came across a thin foil like metallic sheet that is about the color of tin foil but has a violet tint/ overtone to it. This sheet will also flex itself back to its original shape when folded or crumpled. If anyone could give me more information on how to proceed with an appraisal or any kind of basic guidelines to follow in this situation it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Beau Johnson

Looks like a Roswell artifact that was blown your way from the West! Let's just call it part of a weather balloon. Love the action picture's:icon_thumleft: Seriously tho, don't know.

Is Mylar magnetic or not? digger460

I think that question was for Chiltepin, anyway I'm not sure. But I did have a thought yesterday. I use to sell and install 3M window film back in the 80's, and one of the colors was silver like your's. It had the same characteristic's as yours. Can you see through it? Might be a scrap from a roll. It actually had a small bit of silver in it for reflective qualities. At the time it was the same product they used on the space shuttle, or so we were told. I'm not talking about the crap you buy at Menard's. Just a thought.

This particular piece has no magnetic properties and is nearly translucent when it is exposed to direct light. Without being held to a window or light source it seems as any ordinary scrap tin foil. I knew that there was something peculiar when I attempted to shoot a deep ball into the trashcan after thoroughly snow packing the sheet into a ball about the size of a tennis ball and pump faked and the thing opened up like a parachute! digger460- your thoughts are quite aligned with the particular characteristics that this sheet appears to have. As far as who to contact or where to take it for analysis.

It's from someplace else far far away,

Yes Mylar can be magnetic depending on what it is used for. DuPont has the
Trademark. The military used to make balloons with sections of Mylar suspended
as to test radar.

Floppy disks use magnetic Mylar media to store data.
