This may be silly but I have no idea what causes this and it is just so odd. Some will have weird looking pieces in it or round holes where pieces are gone. It's all wavy and there is a lot of this red in most. I assume from the clay. I'm just curious. If anyone can offer ideas, I would love the info.

The characteristics of the stone you found, including the red clay on it, suggest to me that you found it in Northwest Georgia in the Cartersville-to-Dalton area. It looks like brecciated Limestone cemented together by Calcite deposition.

I agree with Wrightdigger, the best place to get it identified with certainty is in TreasureNet's "Rocks/Gems" forum.
