Fossil Or ??

My son found this while gold panning off a small creek. Looks like it could be some type of leaf, plant impression. Is imbedded in the rock surface and does not rub off. Suggestions appreciated..

Looks like a dendritic inclusion in quartz to me: kind of moss that grew inside the rock.

I'd have to say your're batting a 1000. Following up on your lead I have found many different examples of " dendritic " Some of the images fromed by this process are beautiful art work by nature.

Dendritic: A branching tree like mark made by one mineral crystallizing in another. A stone or mineral with such a mark.

The stone that my son found is exactly that...
