UPDATED!!!! Found a bucket lister!!!!! Then lost it 10 minutes later

I'm so mad with myself right now it's not funny, I just got home and searched all over and can't find it, I went to a site that has been in the same family for over 100 years of a friend of mine that's got an old foundation on it and was searching the field edge when I got a low tone signal that was crisp and clear. Out popped an Indian, not just any Indian it was a fatty. That was the first I've ever found and I was excited! It looked like it was an 1860 and my oldest coin found detecting.. Man I was proud when I walked up to my 9 year old son and said " guess what budd I found a coin, a good one too!" Then I reached into my pocket and it was gone. I searched my footsteps for over an hour but never found it. Got home and searched everything....nothing.
Now I'm having a glass of bourbon and drowning my sorrows. Thanks for reading about my pain.

Man I feel for you. Just remember, if you found it once, you can find it again. It has to be there somewhere. Good luck!

Hi; Now THAT hurts for sure. I've done it a few times myself. James Jameson helped a bit.!!!:BangHead: :laughing7: I hope you do find it again. Check where you were parked at the site. Check EVERY piece of clothes you wore that day. Research the path you took from the field to your car. Good Luck. PEACE:RONB

Fubar. But retrace your steps again,, used the detector. You'll find it. They also love to hide between seat cushions.

I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I know this story, happened to me this year with a 1792 french 2 sol copper. Luckily at least I shot a video, from which I pulled a frame from, so I at least have the picture.

Just poured the second glass and said out loud I can't believe I lost that da*# coin and my wife says and I quote " are you sure you even found it?" Grrrrrr

Could it have slipped into your junk bag? Keep looking!

I'll raise a shot to your pain also -

I sure hope you find that coin!

Not to worry, we all have (or will) lost a find or two...just matter of time. That coin is on the surface now, hopefully it will be easier to find tomorrow! Good luck on its recovery.

Congrats on a great find!
Can't wait for you to find it again.....

Oh man, you apparently have my luck. That would drive me nuts!

Don't feel pregnant, my 1st silver spoon which had Enos Arkansas inscribed on it came up missing when I took my finds to show some relatives. It just wasn't meant to be.

Here's what you do, tell yourself it was only a gum wrapper shaped like a coin and forget it.

So the Indian got lost twice!!!
That's cool like fishing. Catch it & throw it back for the next person!!!
A new way to coin hunt!!

Happy New Years!!!

Most of us feel your pain. This year I pulled a full cut-glass wax seal c.1750 and lost it. Then before I re-found it the owners pulled the permission.

**** happens

I know the pain...I lost a silver quarter from the 1940's once while water hunting. I spent several hours trying to find it but never did...

I found an 1885 V nickel over a decade ago and lost it in my own house for years. I happened to find it today in a bag of dirty coins from a hunt several years ago. No clue when or why I put it in that random bag, just crazy thankful to have finally found it. Hope you find your lost Indian.

Well I have a good idea where to look I made a loop around the outer edge of the field then straight to my boy, I'm heading back around daylight to look with the bigger coil and Hopefully this ends well
