I went to one of my spots today where a running battle took place back in 1862. I have done pretty well there, but today was my best day there so far. I got a big iron signal and dug down about 16-17 inches and found a cannon ball fragment then I started finding the case shot and more frags. This shot obviously exploded in the ground, I will be able to put it back together and make a great display. Thanks for looking, and happy hunting!

UPDATED:
Here it is put together, I should have the fuse by Thursday. I am still pumped about this find :blob8: probably one of my all time best!!

Cool find Peanut. While digging back about 4 years ago, my friend and I dug quite a few whole cannonballs out and I found one that had blown up after it had already plunged into the ground like yours leaving it fractured but together. When digging it out, it subsequently fell apart with the hundreds of case shot all in and around it in the mud. It was a good 2 feet down. I thought about putting mine back together but left the segments open and displayed as some had the case shot still embedded in the gun powder....very cool :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

That is sweet!!! I would leave the top open to see all the shot!

Nice! What kind of glue did you use? :laughing9:
