Cannon ball

I found a cannon ball on my property. It weighs 17.2 pounds, (although it probably weighed more as it had lost some of its exterior to eroding). It’s very close to 5 inches in diameter. The property has seen both revolutionary and civil war activity. I suspect it might be a British 18 pounders, any ideas would be appreciated. Update: it was found in New Bern NC at the home of the second governor of NC, Abner Nash. The British burned his house down during the revolutionary war. It’s currently 5 1/16 of an inch, but it is eroded some.

Pictures of any mold lines, and the actual circumference/diameter of the ball would help with an ID

Nice find! Looks like a cannon ball, but I’m no expert. The area you found it in gives providence toward a cannon ball, I think. Congratulations on the recovery!
