Found this beaut today. nearly perfect except for two chips on the ears! Thinking it's a Charleston; that's the closest thing I can find, or some sort of re-worked Kirk.

I've never heard of a Charleston point. Looks similar to Ross points from Ohio. Beautiful!

Wow!!!! Holy smoke thats a stunner lets here the story , how did you find it .

Dang, look at those serrations. Some hefty artifacts your way! congrats :icon_thumleft:

I've never heard of a Charleston either, but there's a lot I haven't heard of. I dunno, Pinetree, Stillwell, KCN...? Hellacious, whatever it is. I wouldn't know how to act.

Did you find that at the same place as the Conrely? Beautiful point!

Well lets see both sides of it you have 3 pics but all of the same side. Its a monster for size.

Pure luck, as always. Digging at an early archaic site. Haven't really found anything that pristine except a couple of Daltons. Other than broken ears it's in pretty good shape. Still sharp!

I'm guessing the ears are not broken but made that way. Check it out and let us know. A lot of point types have those squared off ears, check out Clay points found in Fla. & Ga. for a similar look.

So do you think thats a reduction scar at the base?

That is a beautiful monster sized point. If found in the mid Atlantic I would call it a Charleston too, but believe further south they are usually called St. Charles, Pinetrees, Kirk's etc., all very similar points. Congratulations and HH.

Simply stunning, I return and return to soak it in, what an artist the maker was.
