Took a quick walk after work today found a few flakes then picked up this uniface knife. It's all there and looks to me to have been hafted at the skinny end. Looks old as there seems to be a "vein" of iron deposited on it. Thanks for the look. View attachment 1299069

Let's try again. image.webp

Nice material

Flake knife I think can we see the bottom?

Yes, it is definatley uniface. I'm thinking about trying to come up with a handle for it as it would still be very usable today still. image.webp

Well its broke in half but looks to be a usable flake or could just be a removed piece to get to the harder section of the stone.

It's definatley not broken in half its a full piece maybe just missing a bit from the top. It's pressure flaked to an edge on both sides above the " notches". It's not a fine notched biface but for a flake knife I'm happy to have picked it up.

is the tip missing or does it have a chisel tip?

The tip is there for the most part as I mentioned in earlier post there is small bit missing but I can see that the tip is like a chisel. image.webp
