It's a small, domed shaped metal box that measures 1.75 inches square. It's pretty fragile and pretty worthless, but I get a kick out of junk like this.
Yes indeed. Found a few of this type myself and you always wonder if there's anything inside it when you first lay eyes on it. Of course mine have always been empty. Cool find.
Found one that was just a rusted mass, smashed it open and the contents fell out onto the soil. Four large pennies from the mid teens, and four paper street car transit tickets that were in great shape. Buried in the ground just short of a hundred years the condition of the paper was amazing. So one never knows what treasures are hidden in little boxes that we dig. But most are dirt and broken mirrors.
