Found a "steelie" in my nickel box!

It was the oddest thing. I had a roll of nickels from String and Sons, so not a hand rolled. Opened it up and saw that there was a small coin in it. Since I see lots of pennies in nickel hand rolls, I knew what it was, but I was baffled, since rolls from the fed normally don't have pennies. I pulled the offending penny out, and it was a 1943D steelie!

Do you think maybe the steel content made it go into the nickel slot instead of the penny slot somehow? I've never gotten a steelie in a nickel roll before. has anyone else?

Just an odd thing. Curious if anyone else has had this happen to them. Anyone?

Not that I'm complaining about my penny in the nickel roll! :) Just amazed at the steelie being there.

Cool score, it's worth 5 cents to me, and a story.

I have done 40+ penny boxes, have not gotten a steelie yet. 40+ nickel boxes, never a penny in a nickel roll.

You are lucky, what are the odds?

HH and happy holidays!
