Found a toy dueling pistol today- Id'd as Parris

I found this cool dueling pistol today about 4 inches down! No markings and it looks as though it's been repaired in the past with a few philips head screws. It actually still functions but I think a long piece on top is missing. I'll have to go back and see if I can find it!
Can anyone tell me about it? This is my second toy gun find so far but I really don't know much about these things.

Hi Bev!

I like the idea of having your father carve you a new stock for the cap gun, especially if the wood you found on it is rotted. I think this would be something nice to pass onto your kids in later years, being part of their grandfather and part of their mom!

I feel the same way. I understand that I'll "ruin the value" but I think the sentimental value will far exceed it's existing condition. I got my father a branding iron one year with his name on it that he uses for the furniture he creates. He also insets a quarter that has the year it was built and he calls it "two bit furniture". I'll have him do that to it too and update the thread with pictures!

looking for Christmas ornaments the other day,I found mine I had when I was a kid!!!One of the coolest toys I had!!!

yeah! nice pistol!! I have found only the plastic ones like that-( 2 different hunts) as far as diggin' bones go, 10 years ago I hit a round 'candy' box next to my friends cloths line post. Thought the same thing-''Oh Boy'!!! opened it up--- it was a very well preserved mummified GREEN PARROT!! I asked 'yours'- he said 'Been here 45 years- never had one'---
