Dont have a clue what it is? Any help and a date would be great! It is about a inch and a half long looks like it used to be dome shaped.

I have an 1850s - 1900s door bell/buzzer crank with it's backplate... heavily gilted and decorative... and it's really kind of small... (picture below).

The dome thing is throwing me off... maybe the top of something like a crank backplate but your item is so much more delicate. ..
