1st - I searched Google and found Value of 1880 Silver Morgan Dollar...

The Philadelphia Mint struck many millions of 1880 Morgan silver dollars...

I was going to say it's in a bezel as a necklace but Jewelryguy's answer of a belt buckle makes more sense because of the weight of it.

You can probably see the points of attachment on the side of the metal.

I agree with Jewelerguy and Petespockets. It was either used as a belt buckle, or a bezel. Look on the back for markings from some sort of attachment that would have held it on, like a mark for a pin or solder marks for a buckle.
