Found Gold, Silver & a Copper Medal Today!!!
Hello Friends!
Headed to a beach park after work today in an old Ontario port town that now no longer exists. First thing I did was hit the beach. The beach area was fairly small and compact, as you can see from the photos. I found the silver earring at the end of a wooden boardwalk.
Lots of aluminum, nails, bottlecaps . . . you get the idea!
After an hour on the beach I decided to head inland to the park area. There use to be two homes that sat on this site, they were supposedly built in the 1930's. The homes were consequently torn down in the 1980's to make the parkland larger for the public to use. An elderly German gentleman came over and asked me what I was finding, I told him mainly metal trash and bottle caps. He then told me, "son your wasting you're time, you'll never find anything of value here!" I then said, "you never know what you'll find when you dig in the ground!"
He just stared at me and wished me luck.
It was on the old home sites that I found the 1938 Medal and the gold ring. When I first saw the medal in the hole I thought it was a silver dollar!
Incidentally, these were both found on the same property!
The copper medal I dug at 4" under an old Pine Tree and the gold ring I dug out of the roots 5" down under an old Maple Tree!
Sorry about the fuzzy picture of the gold ring, my hands were shaking I was so excited!
Any ideas on the date of the ring would be appreciated!
Happy hunting and thanks for looking,
Dave
