Was tearing out the gravity feed furnace and duct work out of an older house I'm currently rehabbing. Found a number of marbles, kids toys, 25+ clads, AND this ring. Sorry I can't get the closeup any clearer. And as alot of you know, it's sometimes hard to read the inside of a ring with a loop. Here's what I think it might say......

x4K E artcarved

cannot make out the first digit. I think the second is a "4". The third I'm almost positive is a "K" The next digit looks sort of like an E, or perhaps an M on it's side. There's slightly more spacing on either side of it. Then I'm pretty sure it says "ARTCARVED". This is the part I don't understand. I've never seen "artcarved" on a ring before.

Unfortunately, I don't own a gold and silver testing kit. (it's now on my to-get list).

Is this a solid gold ring?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Jules

PS: haven't found gold in over three years with my detector, and now I may of found some with a hammer and a nailbar :-)

I also found a ring at the local lake that has "14k Artcarved" on it. Looks like the same stamp as what is on yours, but the one I have, I think, is a toe ring or maybe an earring. It is not flat as it goes around but round.

Even enlarged, I can't tell from that angle. Wouldn't hurt to take a soft bristle toothbrush with soap and water to the area of the marks.

When I zoom in on the picture it looks like this:

Still can't tell if its 14K, or 24K. Also, you can't see it in this picture, but there are file marks on the edge of the ring above the word "Artcarved", from someone else taking the ring to a jeweler.

Gold... for what it is worth, the 24kt gold that I have seen is a brilliant color. It really does look different. The alloy stuff seems subdued by comparison.

If I am not mistaken, I am new to metal detecting (not to gold jewelry, 1 ex-wife, 1 current LOL) 24 has a lot more yellow look to it then the 14.

My wife is Filipino, they prefer jewelry in the 18-24k there in Philippines. All 24k that i have seen when I was in Philippines looked on the yellow side and is softer.

IT is still a great find!!

I see now man. It's 14k and the thing after that is the makers Hallmark, and then the makers name (ARTCARVED).

Great going on the pictures too. 14k gold is 58% pure and women love it.

I'd have to agree with starsplitter that it looks like 14K and from this enlaged view, it doesn't look like the number 2 in front of the 4K, (more like a deep 1).

Still a good looking ring though. Assuming it is 14K. On eBay could expect it to sell for anywhere from maybe $40 for a smaller size, (6 1/2), to $80 for a lager size, (10 1/2). I'm not implying any guarantee, this is my opinion based on prices I've seen.

such as my wife............. everytime I bring home a piece of jewelry, she's always the first to "inspect" it, coming out of the sink after cleaning. She's already decided that this piece is far too "masculine" for her taste, so we/she decided to put it with the rest of the 'scrap' I've found to be transformed into a more fitting piece. :-)

take care,
Jules
