Found in a civil war area

Any ideas! I found this right next to 2 sharps and a round ball at about 10 inches deep. It had 4 attachment points. I can post clean pictures if needed.

When you clean it up it should say Civil War on it someplace.

I am told that it is a sword bayonet frog attachment but I can not find one online to reference.
