Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Unfortunately it was a geocache.
It was found with a CZ6 rather than a GPS. :D
I found the cache while detecting in an old overgrown park. I swung the coil over a dead log and got a signal, I kicked the log, and out rolled a camouflaged plastic container with a screw-on lid. I carefully opened the container as I looked around thinking that I might have found someones drug money. :o
As soon as I opened the container, I realized what I had found. :-[

Not knowing proper geocaching etiquette I decided to replace the cache where it was found. I did, however, add a little something to it. I put one of our MD club's business cards along with a Pokemon medallion that I found earlier. :-X

Must be a lot of geocaches out everywhere!
This reminds me of my only experience with them. Last winter I put two trail cameras along a trail, hoping to get a photo(s) of a cougar. They come to that area each winter. Well, when I retrieved my cameras, there were photos of maybe 40 hikers walking up that trail over a two month period. And half of them were looking at a GPS! It dawned on me what they were doing,so I went to the Geocache website. There are three geocaches up that trail! Heck, there was one right behind a tree that one of my cameras was on!
Oh,yeah,a cougar passed by too.......about an hour behind a couple of Geocachers!

A cougar. Wow. I'd hate to stumble onto one of them. I might have to use the MD as a weapon...thus ruining it. About a month ago, while out detecting, I was walking into a patch of tall grass next to a cornfield and startled a bobcat out of the weeds it was hiding in. I was about three feet from it. Luckily, it ran the other way. Not the biggest cats around but I wouldn't want to piss one off or corner one by accident.

Cool find..I wouldn't have ever thought about swinging the coil over a log.

I put some flat buttons in the one I found with IDX not GPS. That oughta confuse the geocachers...
