Found my first pistol, and it's a beauty. (resized the pic)

I spend a lot of my spare time checking lots where houses have recently been taken down here in New Orleans. I've been mainly just digging bottles and not detecting them since they tend to be so full of garbage, but that's all over now. I will never be caught in a lot without my detector again. This little gem was at one time a .32, and even though it looks rough, it's the first pistol I've ever foud and I think I'll keep it.

That gun appears to be a 1930's model Smith and Wesson. I would recommend that you at least ask the local police if they would be interested into looking at this gun and cross reference it to any murders that may have happened years ago. If they can stil do a ballistics match with the barrel not being too degraded, you will have helped in solving a cold case file.

Cap'n Crunch,

The one I found is so rusted there's no way it could be checked out. Add to that that the police here seem to have trouble catching modern bad guys, and I doubt they'd care about a gun that was under a house for 40 odd years. If I find a new one though I'll definitely call them.

A New Orleans pistol.
I'll bet that gun has seen some gangsta action.

A pistol is a pistol though. Nice find!
