I was out hunting along this creek that runs through town and there are several old buildings within 15 ft. of the bank. At the edge of a step I found this old padlock. I took a toothbrush to it and it is in really good shape. The keyhole door is spring loaded and after I cleaned some of the dirt off it seems to work. It has a date of 1927 along with some markings that I haven't been able to trace. I hope I can get some help.

The quarter in the picture is just for size reference. The padlock is as heavy as it looks.

looks like a railroad switch lock, great find!

That makes sense because there's a rr track about a 1/2 block away from where I found it.

I'm curious if that's really a date, or if it's a model number or something. I agree with it probably being a RR lock.
