wow! looks authentic and if so it is a 1598-1700 spanish colonial silver 8 reales cob! But be careful, fakes have been make of these....have it examined by more than one coin expert. But I don't see anything that leaps out that it is not genuine.

Look at the edge...you will see a raised rim from the mold.

I found one too....silver plated copper reproduction.

Lots of fake coins found on Fl beaches. It has too much corrosion and reales did not have rim around the edge, yours does...

Is the coral fake too?
They must have thrown it on the beach quite some time ago you think?

Thats not coral. That is what zinc looks like when it first begins to oxidize. It develops white blisters all over the surface. If it stayed in the salt environment much longer it would probably start losing metal.

Found this on the beach - encased in a thin layer of coral. Is it a fake? Real? Found some similar coins searching on Google, but taking this to the experts.

What do we have here?

It's a bit bigger than a US silver dollar, heavy.

Which Boca beach?

Yes someone must be throwing them on the beach for sure, they're turning up all over the place.
I've found 3 and I don't get out much. I know of a few others finding them all over also.
Amusement for someone, lost by tourists or kids most likely.

A buddy found 2 fake gold colored escudos and nearly gave him a heart attack.

To separate hunts....poor guy! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1442711280.969858.jpg
