Hi All,

Been a while since I've posted. Found some silver yesterday- my first coin from Guatemala- 1882 25 centavos. It's some type of commemorative coin to Guatamalan independence. I really like the look of this coin!

Saludos!

Interesting coin.
Very nice find .

Amazing find that belongs in a case

Yes, on Sept. 15, 1821 Guatemala (and several other Central American countries) declared its independence from Spain.

Good looking coin!

The June 30, 1871 date commemorates the event of that year when the Conservadora administration was put to an end.
Today, that date is called Army Day where Guatemala [FONT=&quot] recognize the service of the armed forces for the national well-being.
Historically, celebration of Army Day was marked by an annual military parade though -- due to budget constraints--the parade may now be a non-event.
