Have been out of the MD hobby since moving to rural Eastern Shore MD, and then having some severe knee troubles. Mostly healed back up, and back out in the field today for the first time in forever. We bought 30 acres of old hardwood forest here on the 'Shore and not 50 feet from my back door I started finding old lead. The modern bullet with the nice patina is 434 grain, approx .50 cal (no calipers here to measure). The big round ball with the patina is 412 grains, and the smaller ball with no patina is 211 grains.
I had found what looked like a .69 cal round ball (!) last year in the same general area, but can't find it at the moment.
Any ideas what era these are? This area was adjacent to a main travel hub between two towns in the late 1780-1790 time frame in Maryland.
