Found this arrowhead in my yard

I'm building a lean-to addition on my garage and I've been working on it for a couple of weekends. I was attaching steel to a sidewall today and when I was putting in the bottom row of screws I spotted it right under my feet. I couldn't believe my eyes. At first I thought it was a piece of bark but when I picked it up it was a real arrowhead. I found it about 100' from the bank of the Big Muskegon River here in Michigan. This area doesn't have a history of ancient artifacts so this is a real surprise. It's 1.75 inches long and 1" at it's widest point.

Looks like a Thebes point with a few hundred miles on it.

When I set the posts for my lean-to, I used a tractor mounted power auger and I'll bet the point popped out of the auger tailings. Should I bring in the heavy equipment? :laughing7:

Yep, I'd be diggin a root cellar or something. BTW, it would appear that there is a history of ancient artifacts in your area. That one is prolly at least a cool three to five thousand years old.

Nice find!
The best I've been able to find in my yard was a spark plug, vintage 1986 I think.
Tn and Uni are on track with the addiction warning. Once it's got you, there's no rehab or archaeo-methadone, just a long life of dirty fingernails, growing mountains of rocks (indoors), and endless excuses to love ones as to why you have to leave home at the crack of dawn after a big rain. I even know of one Family Medicine doctor in Western Oklahoma that has pulled some of his patients down with him. My guess is, you're likely high risk for such behavior.
