I found this 1835 coin I am assuming it is..It was in the ground about 4 inches using my Whites M-60 it showed a +90 So I said well let me dig it since so high on the screen...So any input be nice and is it rare or a common coin.....It was an old mansion set back in the middle of the wood, from what I was told it was built in the 1700's most of it was foundation.... WOW! NICE! A great Christmas gift!!

Beautiful coin ! That is a "Capped Bust" half dollar 1809-1836 (I think ) A wonderful find ! Perhaps not ultra rare/valuable but a memorable
find for any detectorist . Get yourself a copy of the "Red Book " a guide book of United States coins (R. S. Yeoman ) very helpful reference !!
Nice Find ! I love the honest patina on that coin .

Thanks Guy's Oldest coin I found..Yes I used water to clean it up...I know not too do any thing else to it...Came out of the ground kinda clean with the nice patina on it...

There is a club of collectors who only deal w/ those coins... they call themselves "Bust Half Nuts" ....(I think that's hilarious). great find..I WANT ONE!!!

Congrats! Another way to tell if it's silver besides 90 + on the VID, flip the switch forward and the tone will be high pitched.

Wow! That is an awesome find........I would go back to that place as often as possible. No telling what all is there.....

Well you sure know how to pick your oldest coin! That is a great find you've made. As most said, go back and you may just find more old silvers. Thanks for your post.

Yep, that's a butt kicking find!

Congrats, I would love to find a bust coin just once.
