I was digging bottles in a old 1800's privy. I came across this heavy, rusty iron piece. Does anyone know what this is before I go through the trouble of cleaning it? The location where I found it was a extinct town along the Mississippi River. Thanks in advance!!

It almost looks like a stamp, such as a notary would use, but a good electrolysis is needed to actually tell what it is.
