Im tempted to say, given where I am, boomerang, if you were here.
But hey, given messages in bottles and stuff it would be cool if it was one!
But, the shape is mysterious and piqued my imagination!

Looks like a tree branch to me.
Maybe try to identify what type of wood it is, that might be a clue to it's origin.

To me it looks like a wooden knee from a tree stump used in old wooden ships as bracing due to its natural shape
Neat shore find....you just dont see much of that stuff survive

I'm wondering if this is a spike head (inner circle)

Note how the grain runs out a bit on the right leg? A tree branch would have the grain parallel to the side. It looks like a boat knee to me too. They are used to fasten bottom beams to side beams at their junction in some small boats and ships.
