Welcome to T-Net Tacaulleytreasurehunter. :icon_thumright:

I modified your post so the images appear in it. You'll be more likely to get quicker answers that way.

Looks Spanish, silver, and similar to a 4 bit piece, about the same size as a half-dollar? Need to have another photo if possible: one of the side of the coin. Early Spanish coins were cut off a bar of silver, then trimmed to approximately the right weight. An image was struck on the coin using a die and heavy hammer. The more of the image of the die that shows, the more information about the coin can be determined.

Since I've never found a silver Spanish coin, I'm not the right person to ask about confirming this identity, though.

Nice find, and welcome!!!

Pic of coin on side appears to show "pinched" area, similar to authentic Spanish silver. Congratulations, and I hope a better coin identifier than I reads this post. BTW, another helpful bit of information would be an exact weight of the coin. If you don't have a digital scale, it might be time to ask a reliable coin dealer or collector about the weight. Just the weight. Don't offer to sell it.

it looks like an early spanish coin, 1700-1746 reales. Awesome coin! I would guess it's worth a couple hundred dollars even with the hole drilled in it. Hang on to that one unless you need to sell it for food to survive on, seriously. It will only go up in value, and they are very rare. I hope to find one someday.

NICE!

It's pretty thick, and really old. Inspiring find for sure!!!

Is that an 8?

Super nice find!  HH

Hello, I am a long time reader and a first time poster. Was hoping someone could identify this for me. I think it is an old silver coin that someone drilled a hole in and made a pendant. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nice find..
The hole was usually put there because they were carried on a string..
But it could have been worn as a pendant.

wow i would love to find one of those
congrats

sorry to be a buzzkill but I'm pretty sure I see a mold line in some of the pics which would indicate a cast reproduction. It's particularly noticable in the first picture of the ones you linked to (the side view). I hope I'm wrong but in any case it's a cool find. I learn something new here everyday so it wouldn't surprise me for an expert to come along and correct my assumption. :dontknow:

Super Find !
Not sure how long you've been diggin, but that coin is one fantastic piece.
The clubbed cross & Rampant Lion look similar to a Phillip IV early 1600's cob that I am familiar with.
Tell us more about the discovery please

After looking again I'm starting to wonder about this one because it looks like a seam along the edge.

I see something on the edge in photo 2, looks incused rather than raised as most casting seams, very wide also.
metal seems to be the right color, and there's lots of nice old dings and some pitting.

After viewing all pix, I'm still saying 'Big Congrats'
Please give us the story of this find.
