I know what it is. They "think" the swarm of earthquakes in Arkansas last year was due to fracking. It's all politics. Good luck.

We do have a group here wanting to get this stopped, seems like I just sounded like a treehugger. Anyway, they will destroy much of the most sacred ground around here, villages.....need help/advise or they win.

Anyone familar with Frac mining?? They want to do this thru what I would call a historic treasure, any advise on how to stop the bigwigs?????????????

I am familiar with "fracking" they crack bed rock to get natural gas. As to stopping big Whigs! If you ever figure it out, you will the biggest of all the big Whigs. Lol! I think they are doing this in parts of NY state and Penn. I have heard pros and cons. No one really knows what fracking will do in the future. As of now, one farmer said the farmers that live in states that allow this practice have nice tractors, opposed to his old worn out one. Good luck with your mission. I do not know enough about it to take either side. I do not think they should be allowed to frack on historical land marks, however!

Actually N.C.,
You are correct, to do this, they need a very specific type of sand and that, this sand is what is they are after. There is an ancient village site about 1/2 mile from where they are wanting to dig. The sand that would be mined would get shipped to the middle east in efforts to find and open up more oil. I just want this area left alone and the Frac Mining to go back to where they came from. Can this be stopped, any great thoughts other than J.G. Wentwhorth???????????????

does the reclamation act apply?hahaha

It's a historical landmark, but not many people know about it and want to keep it that way. They don't want to draw attention, but feel they may have to. The pro's are obvious, lower gas prices, the con's are too, ancient villages destroyed......

stating that all mining activity i.e. holes and such,be restored to natural contour of land when
finished.some here know more about it than me.hope this helps.

Smokey, using the "P" word makes me want to give up and surender. This sand I'm talking about, will be mined here and shipped to the Middle east.

I doubt they had anything to do with the earthquakes, as a beekeeper, I appreciate the "swarm" reference. Politics Suck! Thanks for your post Smokey.

They won't be doing any fracking here, it's just the sand that they want to mine, they are after........the sand will be sent to the middle east to open up more oil.

Why would they ship sand to the middle east? that has nothing to do with fracking.

bci, good luck with this. try to learn as much as you can, find experienced and knowledable allys, join forces.
Perhaps when your water burns, someone will take note.

eta, oh ok, not fracking in your area. Guess that old song "this land is your land, this land is my land......" has broader meaning. Don't they have deserts full of sand over there????????

Google frac sand and you will see what I'm talking about, there are mines all over Wisconsin. It is used as a hydraulic to force open bedrock/oil preserves. This WILL be sent to the middle east, and ya, $2.99/ gallon gas pleases me, but not at the expense of my proud home range here.

bci101: You can't have your cake and eat it to. If you don't want the scared ground interupted then you have to disclose and have it protected. If you don't do this then there is no complaining.

That water was burning before the fracking. From my understanding it isn't as bad as what people think it is. My wifes grand parents own thousands of acres in North Dakota and are leasing the land to oil companies to frack. They pay alot of money to her grand parents. It is good for our economy and this is huge for N. Dakota. As for this village you speak of is it native related? If so it shouldn't be touched unless the companies are willing to pay millions to move what ever is there to another location. I don't know for sure. Another thing I dont fully understand what you are saying about shipping the sand to the middle east, that doesn't make sense. We have our own refineries and we know how to get the oil and gas out of the shale.

Yes the Village is a native village. I don't think any amount of money should jeopardize the ancient site... I am saying that the local hippies are the ones saying they will ship it to the middle east, I'm worried about the village/artifact destruction....

Sending sand to the middle east does sound ironic. Like selling stink to crap. Lol. I do belive you, and do remember reading something about a certain sand. To stop it, you may be forced to tell where your holy grail is. Talk to city council members, any one that will listen. Well.... Dont talk to the village idiot, but every one else. Really look for powerful people with reputation to uphold. Heck, write letters to state congressmen, senators, clergymen. The clergy has following. Get them on your side and you have numbers. Good luck!!!
