Franklin, NC metadetecting

I have a client who is going to Franklin, NC this summer. She plans on doing the "dig for gems" thing but is also interested in places she can use her metal detector.

Any suggestions?

If you find a place to go metal detecting there let me know. We also have a trip planned to Sheefield mine this Spring. If the gems dont work out I will have my metal detector too. Best of luck on both of your hunts there.

I will have to do some research, there is a ghost town upthere with one remining mill standing....... I'll see what I can dig up and post it.

When is she going?

Here you go. Note The Mingus Mill was the water turbine mill for the surrounding area. However, the mill is not actually on Smokemont site but nearby.

Check for local park rules before detecting.
