Great find !!
Great ID 'bramblefind' !!
Remnants of the letter "H" are seen to the left of the shield, indicating the coin was minted during the reign of King Henry IV (1589-1610).
The counterstamp was added pursuant to the edict of 1640 validating the coin for circulation in Nouvelle France.
Don.....

So is this silver? I really would like some advice on this piece. Don't know where to go from here. It's wafer thin and I don't want to do the wrong thing. If it's worth anything. Got three little ones and am trying to build a house. If this can help I would look to sell it. But I would also like to keep it. Any advice would be awsome.

It's a billon coin, which is low grade silver. Little value so very easy to keep. I have dug two of them.
