Yesterday we took some of our finds to the local FLO… it was super exciting and we got some of our previous finds back with ids, will do them in a separate post. But it meant we got an afternoon to play in the fields.

chuffed to bits with this first find, I know it doesn’t look much but it’s my first pilgrims ampulla, bit battered, but I love it! Then we have a fancy spindle whorl, 2 musket balls, then a unknown, end of a spoon, and ring, buttons, then a super cool 1789 Macclesfield Half Penny token, a 1918 penny, and 2 George 3rd farthings. Himself found a Roman, but not sure on ID.

Tomorrow we are off to see friends who live on the site of a Roman village, am taking my machine in case they want to give their garden “make over” 😂 xx

I had to look up what a pilgrim's ampulla was. Nice! You find such a variety of interesting things!

your findings and pictures are AMAZING :) Thanks for taking the time to share them with us :)

Congratulations Blossom on the pilgrim ampulla. What’s the size? I’m thinking a small vessel. 🤷‍♀️. That would give me Holy bumps holding that and thinking on its purpose. Kinda humbling.

Blast from my past. When I was 9 years old a mate gave me a very worn 1791 Macclesfiled Half Penny (still have it, will never sell), similar to this one. I was in awe & thought it was the oldest thing EVER! It started me on the coin collecting journey, & 2 years later I was given a Detector by my Uncle & I never looked back.... Thanks for the fond memory!!!

Nice report Crusader :) Thanks for taking the time :)

Ah thank you! It’s about 2 inches high by 1 inch wide xx I found it in the same corner as Himself found the Limoges medieval copper alloy figure ( the two circular holes to the body where the figure would of been attached to a reliquary casket, possibly representing a saint or apostle.)

I see a 13 Bar button in your finds. You may want to take a closer look!!!

Fun post to see, as usual. Thank you. You must have a nice studio setup to get such sharp, detailed and well-lighted photos of your finds. If you haven't already done so, it would be educational to me and perhaps others for you to describe the setup.

Congratulations on your pilgrims ampulla blossom. :headbang:
A rarer recovery for sure.
The 1789 Macclesfield is a keeper as well.
Sure looks like there's plenty of gold still on the bar button.
Will have to let us know when himself has ID his Roman, good detail on it still, well done.
So a great little hunt of filling some wants.
Looking forward to your review from the Flo.

Wow! Great items, especially the spoon handle. Imagine the daily history.
The church spire is special. I had a great-grandpa who was a steeple jack by trade, in New England. I can’t imagine shingling that bad boy!
Thanks for sharing.
