If you have to go to such measures to recover a clad dime, you may consider packing it up for the winter... ;)

Who ever said our hobby was seasonal??!! Coulda fooled me! I think we all know how it feels to have detectin fever. Gotta get out there and hunt, no matter how frozen the ground is. To be honest, I do tend to do most of my research over the winter months though. I saw that upcoming Earthworks post about the frozen colonial copper. I say if it can be done, do it.

In my case, living here in the Pacific Northwest, load up the hammer, pick, shovels, snowshoes, waders, snorkel, and fins.....Considering Dupont gel explosives :o

Well said buckleboy!! I grill year round here in PA. Tomorrow is supposed to get upto 20 degrees but I will be grilling dinner. If ya love it, ya do it!!!

GOOD STUFF BERGIE!!!

I agree with The Rolling Stone dude. That is way too much work for a clad dime. :( But, if you enjoy it, keep it up, bud! :D

That is some serious, wanting to detect syndrom, I wouldnt be beyond it either, way to go

Man nice finds, haven't seen the 1700's coin yet, but anyday you can dig up a good coin like that is a good day.

My partner and I were out this week here in Ohio and yep it was cold and most of the ground was hard as a rock, we had to use a pick and trowel to dig up most of the coins. We both did pretty well considering the weather. Not sure we will be able to hunt much longer though, the ground is really getting pretty hard.

HH, Ringfinder, am including a picture of how we dug out some of our coins.

The history of the coin, would unfreeze my hands and heart. I have around 6 inches of snow. I'm getting pretty desperate, just bought mine and its snowed ever since. Love this web sight! Way to go, while your at it go for me too. ;D
