i always like detecting cellar holes but always wanted to find an American large cent like that, for the fugio too bad but still an excellent find

Nice finds johnny. I noticed you said you found your sites via satelites. How are you using satelites to find your sites. Thanks any help would be great. Love the fugio.

That would be 1787 Fugio. It being used as a button is a sign of the times. There was a coppers panic in the late 1780's. There was such a glut of coppers that the value plummeted, there were all the various state coppers, real and counterfeit, counterfeit English halfpence, as well as various private issues.
 

Holed or not that is a rare find ! nice detail on both coins.

Where you live is a very important part of searching via sattelites..

I don't see any bad in this story. How many Fugio, have I seen posted - many. How many Fugio converted into a button with forged nails have I seen - NONE (until now). So a once rare coin is now an even rarer button. (with the added value of an historic story). It may effect the value of the coin, but I have little care for that!
