After yesterday we got the day that we expected. It took us 1 hour to complete the game strip from yesterday & another hour 15 minutes to do a nearby one.

3 Scrappies
1653 Farthing Token
Buttons
Roman Pot Shards
Nice complete 17th C Buckle - so a worthwhile short hunt.

Next weekend Dad & I will be doing a detecting display at the local fair, we never say no to these community events. Great PR for the hobby & you never know when the next land opportunity we be thrown our way.:icon_thumright:

As usual - nice finds CRUSADER.

Nice pice of mortaria rim! Not a bad day for a short hunt.

An iron buckle in that shape you see not often.. Well spent time in any case!

Good stuff! Keep at it!

nice Medieval Buckle....You will get good fields in that event ! :icon_thumright:

Nice finds! Lets see more silver next hunt or a piece gold...

Well I like the pottery also. I imagine that it would have an interesting story. How do you tell the ages of pottery? Good luck at the Fair. Good PR!

My first source was Timeteam, then books & the internet. Land-Mag had an immediate interest when he started, so he now takes the lead on pottery. We all try & specialise in different things, so as to give us a stronger team. He speaks with leading experts & is building his knowledge. He has also passed a Geophyiscal exam to borrow their equipment, so we will soon be better equiped than most Archies. We have an endless supply of willing archies who would freely join us on a dig. These bonds are important to develop & alsways benefits both parties.

Love that asymmetric buckle - never dug one quite like that. By the way, what is a "game strip"?

Its a strip of land planted with either tall grass or sweetcorn to hold the game birds like pheasants in 1 spot. They often put in feeeders. They are on the boundries of the land to stop them going onto other owners land.
