Hello everyone,

I have been using the old centech (Harbor freight) pin pointers and am tired of replacing them. Either the wand comes loose or a wire becomes unattached inside. I am looking at the garrett pin pointer and the Detector pistol probe. The Garrett looks like its built to last. It seems like it would be tough to break the wand off. I am not sure how sturdy the pistol pro is, but have heard the performance is top notch though. Decisions decisions....I would love to hear what you all have to say about these 2 models.

Thanks

I have owned both. The D P p p is hard to hear when pinpointing, I had to remove my headphones to hear it each time. It is long and awkward NO + points here.

The Garrett is #1 in my opinion no problems here what so ever.

Oh i have to agree on the H-Freight, I have owned a few of those to.

Love the garrett pro pointer. - the harbor freight pointers are junk, but work as a spare. ... never tried the other one (so no help there) - :icon_thumright:

garrett pro pointer

Been using the pistol probe for about a year now. My hunting buddy uses a pro-pointer and often calls me over to find the targets that his pin pointer can't locate. The pistol probe finds them every time. I think that if most people were to do a side by side comparison with the two models they would probably be pretty surprised by the difference in performance. If possible, try them both before you buy.

I have used them both, and they are my two favorite pointers. Firstly what detector do you use? I ask this because the Pistol probe being a more dominant and deeper seeking probe interferes with some Minelab machines. The Garrett is totally compatible with all detectors I have used with no interference. The Garrett is good, but the Pistol Probe is a deeper probe, but can be a bit bulky in the field. I'm not a fan of the Garret's built in vibrator, and the built in light is different. I like the Pistol Probe overall.

Thanks everyone! I use an e trac, AT pro, and an ace 250. I was pretty certain I would buy the pistol probe, but went with garrett at the last minute. The skinny wand made me a lil nervous on the pistol, was worried it would break.I guess I am a lil hard on the pinpointers because I have broke the wand bases on many Harbor F. and automax models. Maybe next years clad will pay for the pistol and I cant try em head to head. Thanks again everyone! :icon_thumleft:

xmark----Do you like your AT Pro? I have an ACE 250, but want something I can use in the water as well. Is it much more difficult to learn? Thanks

I'm jumping in late on this, but I think you'll be pleased with the Pro Pointer. The Pistol Probe does have more depth, but very hard to hear with headphones on and in strong light it's hard to see leds - plus just how much depth is needed in a pinpointer? The vibrator feature of the Pro wins the decision in my opinion. Just my two bits.

I feel both are great pinpointers. The only thing I don't like about the pistol probe is I feel is too big and awkward but it is deep so don't rule it out. I use my machine for depth and the pinpointer to help locate it easier. So my advice is to try each and see which you like the best. I believe both to be great and personal preference is way to decide if you like them. You won't go wrong with either choice.

I have the Garrett Propointer but have never used the Pistol Probe, so all I can say is the Propointer is very good and I highly recommend it.

My vote is for Garrett pro pointer. More user friendly and more sturdy.

I have used both and the Pro Pointer is by far my favorite.....I liked the depth of the pistol probe but the Garrett is easier to hear and to handle.....

just replaced my old bullseye pinpointer which worked great for 3 years witha garret propointer and its even better, well worth the money suprdave

garrett pin pointer all the way

garrett pro pointer :icon_thumleft:

Garrett all the way, we love the one Chug has, it's easy to use, learn and easy to carry, we like the vibrations in the garrett. Chug is hearing impaired and when he cannot hear well, or wear his hearing aid, he knows his pinpointer so well, we keep getting great stuff! Now I want one of my own!!!!    Red :hello:

no disscussion garrett propointer pinpointer have used 6 in 12 years found the propointer never use anything else unless garrett comes up with something better
