Garrett pin pointer or Detector pro pistol probe?

For the guys that love the Garret model, what are you using it for and what depths are you getting out of it? So far everything I have read points (pun intended) to the Pistol being better for small gold.

when i get the object pinpointed with my machine i dig the hole to the level and i check the plug then the hole i very rarely miss unless it is a miniscule piece of rust and after a few minutes i still find it and using it by itself i get 4-5 inches depending on the strength of my batterys i usually change batteries after 3-4 8 hr hunts .
