Genealogy and metal detecting

So i have been doing tons of research on my family history and have found several homestead locations from my family back to this mid 1800's. I have already contacted some of the land owners that currently own the land in order to get permission to md there. It's amazing what you can't find on the internet nowadays. Possible sites, current land owners and names, phone numbers all from 8000 miles away. Problem is that I won't being n the area for a couple years. It's so fascinating to have the opportunity to dig around on land that was in the family over 150 years ago. I Can't wait to. See what turns up when I finally get the chance to start digging there.
