yep I'm just happy I got to help ID it for him as to make and model ------ general beckenridge (a member) found a sweet british made 1827 / 1845 rifle regiment type infantry feild officer sword --- 1827 gothic style steel hilt (with the strung bugle "cartouche"-- which was used the rifle regiments) with a 1845 type wiilkinson fuller blade with a "brass "proof" insert -- it was found in a area that was confederate controlled during the battle of marion --Dec 17th & 18th of 1864 * -- (personally I think its a confederate sword due to where it was found and other factors -- but some others say you can not "prove it is " to which I say "true" but I still "think" it far more likely to be confederate than union based on the known factors ,--- bottom line is it one great find no matter what (so check it out *)--a civil war era battlefeild sword -- major score!!!!
you "locals" need to give him some congrats.
