Hi All.
I returned to a field that I visited earlier in the year THIS ONE where I had found 2 Musket balls. It was stubble then but it has since been ploughed, seeded with grass and is now short pasture for grazing sheep.
I found a few coins ranging from a 1806 Halfpenny to a 2002 Pound coin:

The 1806 George III Halfpenny wasn't in too bad a condition:

Nor was the George V 1928 Sixpence:

Found this 'Carters - London' lead bag seal:

and four buttons:

One being this 'George V - Royal Engineers' button:

and this pretty-old Star-design button:

Four more Buckles:

and a load of other stuff including another 'Acorn Finial'...

When all this rain has stopped I must get round the other Fields.. All now short pasture

Engineer Button has the monogram of Geo VI (so theres your date range).

The grass for sheep option is a good one for late Winter. We have one like this, which is to detect when we have no other options left (mainly because it will be the only one, but not a rich site). Better than nothing.

Sorry Crusader - its not that clear on the photo but its a 'V' not a 'VI' between the 'G' and 'R' - so slightly older - 1910 onwards.
Thanks.

I like the bag seal...
As yet I can't find much information on 'Carters of London', I'm still looking. By the colour of it and by the style of writing it doesn't seem to be as old as the other bag seals I've found in the area.
